LONG BIO

Katherine Feeney is a cross-platform journalist based in Brisbane Australia.

Currently she hosts the Sweet Spot podcast for the Nine Network Australia, a show set on making your love and sex life better one episode at a time. Every week Katherine explores issues like adultery, monogamy and flirtation by interviewing leading experts and tapping audience experiences… as well as sharing a few of her own!

Katherine’s ambition is to better understand relationships; those fundamentally important bonds between people that mean more than anything you can buy from a store. She also believes in self-empowerment through sexual literacy, and that equality should exist within the bedroom as well as without. Katherine is also fascinated by the relationship between culture and relationships, and is sure that there are many ways to solve the problems we all face.

She shares her views and opinions as a writer and columnist for various Australian news outlets, including Fairfax Media’s Daily Life. She also makes radio for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation from their South Bank studios in Brisbane.

Katherine’s journalism career began as a founding member of the brisbanetimes.com.au, which was the first digital-only masthead launched by a major news organisation in Australia. In addition to her duties as a general news reporter, Katherine wrote the popular relationships blog CityKat, which was eventually syndicated across the Fairfax Digital Network. In time, Katherine’s work as a news journalist and commentator was featured across Australian print, radio and television outlets, including The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, Radio 2UE, 4BC, SBS, ABC and the Nine Network Australia. She has covered everything from elections at local, state and federal levels, to natural disasters, and fashion and celebrity stories. She is a dynamic all-rounder who is just as at-home under the bright lights of a TV studio as she is in the field.

Katherine also has a deep passion for food and culture. After finishing high school she trained as a chef, and was determined to become Australia’s answer to Jamie Oliver. But when she realised she could get paid to eat good food and write about it, she got out of the kitchen. She has since contributed restaurant reviews to various titles, including several editions of the Queensland Good Food Guide. She is also an undergraduate anthropologist at the University of Queensland.

Katherine grew up all over Australia, but settled in Brisbane to finish high-school and hasn’t looked back since. She lives with her husband James Mackay, their daughter and two fish.
